COVID 19 + COLD AND FLU SEASON:

Functional Restoration is adhering to state and local guidelines for close contact businesses in order to provide you with safe and exceptional service. In addition to standard cleaning and safety practices, the following precautionary measures are in place: appointments are staggered to allow cleaning/sanitization of the room, table, and high-contact surfaces.

Clients experiencing cold like symptoms ARE ASKED TO RESCHEDULE. If you arrive to your appointment with any symptoms, even lingering non-transmissible post viral symptoms, you may be asked to wear a mask. This is a PRECAUTIONARY measure, to minimize the potential for spread of common cold symptoms that may impact my ability to work safely with other clients.

If you aren’t sure if you should cancel, please contact me directly to inquire.

At Functional Restoration, I believe that understanding the root cause of pain and injury, providing a thorough existing conditions assessment (not a diagnosis), and being part of an integrative treatment plan is the most beneficial approach to the recovery process. My mission, to positively impact your recovery and aid in the restoration of efficient muscle function with clinical massage and soft tissue rehabilitation, is founded on this belief.

Whether you are a current or former athlete, a weekend warrior, have a physically demanding profession, or suffer from chronic pain; clinical massage therapy can play an important role in improving performance, maintaining overall wellness, and achieving your goals.

" If you're looking to relieve pain, improve joint function, or improve your overall performance, look no further. Jessie is an adept massage therapist who will combine her knowledge of anatomy with her intuitive sense to give you real lasting relief."

~Adam D.

Evidence-based modalities that are integrated into each treatment session

sports massage techniques.

Sports Massage is traditionally the preferred modality for athletes and the active population. However, it can be an effective technique for anyone suffering from acute and chronic injury and/or pain. It can help to prevent injury and loss of mobility in areas stressed by a particular activity, restore range of motion to injured soft tissue, and boost athletic endurance and performance.

Techniques commonly employed: passive range of motion, active-resisted range of motion, tendon work, deep tissue, trigger point work, pin and move, and stretching.

deep tissue techniques.

Deep Tissue Massage can often be associated with the familiar saying, “no pain no gain” when in fact, deep tissue techniques do not have to produce pain at all to be effective. Most regions of the musculoskeletal system are comprised of multiple layers of soft tissue - superficial, intermediate, and deep. The goal of Deep Tissue Massage is to safely reach and effect change in the deepest layer of soft tissue where possible.

Techniques commonly employed: myofascial massage, compressions, sustained pressure, and cross fiber friction.

trigger point techniques.

A Trigger Point or “muscle knot” can be described as tender points in muscle tissue or fascia. The tender points can cause localized or referred pain. Applying sustained direct pressure to the tender muscle tissue can provide relief from pain associated with the presence of trigger points.

myofascial release Techniques.

Fascia is a thin web of connective tissue, primarily collagen, that encases all internal parts of the body from head to toe. It allows muscles to move freely and reduces friction between adjacent structures. Myofascial techniques are aimed at restoring the natural elasticity of fascia that has become restricted and adhered to muscle tissue.

Techniques employed: long slow stretching and sustained pressure friction.

What People Are Saying

“As ongoing therapy for my stroke I worked with Jessie over several months in her former position at Spaulding Cambridge and was impressed with her massage technique and touch. My muscle sensitivity, particularly in my right leg, was not an issue for Jessie as she provided just enough pressure to create greater mobility without pain. She used each massage to progress my flexibility. I found her to be bright and a delight to work with.”

— Lou T.

"Jessie is a very skilled and professional massage therapist. She works hard to identify and treat muscles that need specific attention while creating a relaxing and comfortable environment. Highly recommended!"
